This poem has my favourite band on the soundtrack and a promise of sun around the bend.
This is Pearl Jam and their most Mediterranean sounding song from my favourite album of theirs, No Code. Below is my poem as a result of the week without the sun in Slovenia. And above three photos show the road of return.
Around the bend
Around the bend
is another bend.
And then another.
Beyond is just the
flat
promised
land
of exactly same sun minutes per day
as in the country of origin
this past week,
namely none.
It’s warmer though
by a third
and wetter
and the promise lies
in the return.

Waves are my bends indeed but it is so hard to capture their enormity on the open ocean with a camera :-).

Thank you, Joey. It’s kind of cool, considering I just took out my camera, pointed and shot, clicked a couple times more and put it away for the whole trip up to the border (where I clicked once for the last of these three shots).
