Today five examples of standing out – or is it blending in? – in images by three. Because Leya asked for it.Β
First, this door from Piran looks stonewashed. It wasn’t me. Maybe it was the snail army to help conceal their spy.
Second example is just cats. I love it how they always act as if I interrupted their world peace-keeping conference. Sorry, cats, carry on. Blending out or standing in? You decide.
The third example is quite outstanding, there in the greens of Ljubljana jungle, hidden away in the botanical garden.
The fourth set is from this Saturday. The butterfly is borderline blending in already, with the white spots to make it look like the bark of the tree, and yet its colours would give it away anywhere but here. Niki de Saint Phalle’s Tarot Garden had its open door day again.
The last trio of photos is from Sunday, taken from my front door. Some serious bird activity going on.
As you go through life, never forget: If you’re the only one, it may just mean that you are the first.

Bird on a wire. Like the movie.
Blending in. Everything’s there for a reason.

Right, Bojana, even though we often don’t see it, the reason. Thank you!

I loved the color of that door and a modest snail feeling quite at home. Your cat ideas made me smile – you are so right, cats always look like they own the space, and you are just interrupting :))
And the birds are like note signs on the note paper. I love their sense of order and balance π

Thank you, Marina. π I always greet cats polite when I pass them. One never knows. π

Thank you, Judith. It’s also due to laziness. If I do a post, I might as well show and tell a bit more, who knows when I’ll do the next one. But they do kind of answer to the prompt together like this, no?

Hihih, SMSW, this is the best symbolism to be drawn from this: If you set yourself apart from the others, watch out for a shitstorm coming your way. π Thank you!

You have an eye for blending out. Love the snail against the blue door, so well camouflaged. Are you a blending out or standing in kind of girl? π

Hehe, Jolene, thank you for asking. I’m for mixing it all up kind of girl. π But actually I’ve just discovered recently that I take photos in the same way I translate (which is my job): I remove myself and let the others speak through me.

I love how your mind works…here too. Lovely shots, love the snail door and the starlings on a row. I find the white cat just uses his/her body to blend in with the little roof shape where the cat is sitting…Arching.
And blending out is an excellent way to explain things…while standing in goes very much for the Heliconia jungle, doesn’t it…Thank you for an as usual versatile entry!

Like many others, I adore that blue door with the snail. Ad the birds outside your door look like some kind of secret code!

Right, Lexi? The coding birds make me wish I’d understand. It might be crucial. Thank you!

Thank you, Scooj. π Cats and birds and geese and cattle. That’s life around here. Humans and one bestia come late.

Thank you, Joey. You made me google that word because I’d have thought it was a bad word. π I think I mistook it for thrifty.

Oh! Well I’m glad to have helped. It’s kind of an outdated word, but definitely a good one π

That blue door (what a great colour it is) is more “distressed” than “stonewashed”. Distressed paintwork was very popular in TV makeover programmes in the 1990s.

“If you are the only one, you may just be the first.” Lovely sentiment. The sunlight in the garden, the feline peace negotiations, it’s all wonderful. I couldn’t decide if anyone was blending in or standing out because I was too delighted by the pictures. Hee hee
