Lens-Artists PC: Ljubljana, newyorked

I’ve just returned from two days in this October city. It was Ljubljana, the capital of Slovenia, not New York, but here is a gallery of photos that could also be from there. If you believe it.

I only spent two full days in my city of origin this time and it took me 18 hours there and 18 back but it was so worth it. Now that I’m back I feel as if I was dreaming it all. The dream was so vivid that I could even take photos.

New York is still waiting for me but my sister has been and she will be the judge if these scenes from our lovely Saturday walk around Ljubljana remind her of it.

It looked so pretty and only later I realised that this was the first time in the five years since I’d moved to Italy that I saw my city in the autumn colour scheme again. Before it was always either summer or winter. Spring is still waiting.

But first, before I show you the photos, here are a couple of quotations to slide into New York state of mind.

On my first day in New York, a guy asked me if I knew where Central Park was. When I told him I didn’t, he said: Do you mind if I mug you here?
~Paul Merton (quotation reblogged from myguiltypleasures)

The true New Yorker secretly believes that people living anywhere else have to be, in some sense, kidding.
~John Updike (quotation reblogged from Jane Lurie Photography)

Here is my somewhere else with a sinister twist.

  1. I enjoyed the fun tour of Ljubljana, Manja! The highest building in the city with 20 floors– no, that’s not New York. But, I love how the artworks displayed at the park. Very cool! 🙂

  2. I think much of it could be NYC, but in some of these, there’s … well… it’s cleaner. It’s too clean to be NY, lol! Great trees, oh so pretty, and I love the one of the little one on the move.

    1. Thank you, Joey. 🙂 As I say, I haven’t been yet but I can imagine a huge city like this having a problem with cleanliness. Rome has it too. I have so many of great photos from this day, it was beautiful. I’ll post more, I’m sure.
