Thursday Doors, 29/3/18: Women’s Doors 3

Today is the last door-dedicating Thursday. Twenty more women will be honoured for making my days that much better.

A reminder: so far we had two Thursdays of Women’s Doors and one all-male Thursday. With today this silly division is over and we can all rejoice together again.

In any case, it has given me great pleasure to call out some of the people who deserve it. There are many more of you who I follow and who follow my blog and I wish to thank you all.

It also warms my heart to see that some of you click on the links provided under the gallery and check out some of the names that you might not know yet. This is another reason why I do this.

If your blog is listed below, it means that one of the following doors is just for you. See if you can find it. You’ll need to read too though.

Here are links to a favourite post on all these twenty women’s blogs and websites:

        1. 🙂 Baby Girl was supposed to be a Gemini. When the Dr. gave me my due date, and I figured out her “sign” I cried, and cried for days. I thought she’d be way to intellectual for me and we’d never be friends. True story!

She was 3 weeks early and a Taurus. We have power struggles from time to time, but we’re friends. 🙂

  1. I’m honored to be among the chosen. 🙂 Thank you, Manja. Your doors are always fantastic, but it’s especially cool how you have associated them with people in your life (virtual or otherwise). Very nice post.

    1. Thank you, Maggie. For some reason your comment went to spam and I rescued it from there. I’ve been having much fun every Thursday of this month with these door dedications. I’m reminded often of your post about the wifi, so I thought this door is just perfect for you. Here’s to more talk and less clicking! 🙂

  2. I love my door! With green leaves all around and a river running past, the ever-changing and flowing movement of life that undergirds the activities of people living, dining, nurturing relationships. Thank you so much for this gift!

  3. Aww thanks for the link and being mentioned among such talented women. Your doors are always so appealing. I could write something for every one of them as surely they must carry a rich history. Big hugs! 😘

  4. Am still writing you from my other blog – Today I fell for the unusual ones the pyramid (of course – I only saw it after you mentioned it – I could have known because of the shadow!) and the one after that. On the list of names I could see I’m frequenting different circles:) – Only one is I visit with regularly, but of course it’s always fun to widen them! Wishing you a great Easter weekend:)

    1. Thank you, Junieper. I believe you but still find it hard to believe – only one?? These are all worth it for whenever you will feel like enlarging your circles. 🙂 I wish you a most excellent egg-filled weekend as well!

      1. On a regular basis – yes. It’s because most of my contacts are from blogspot, where I was before. Am always for meeting new people, it’s because there re only 24 hours in a day, and you know my first love, and my second vy for my attention:) Hope you can get together with friends if family is not around this weekend!

      2. To explain it some more – nobody told me that a grandparent is busier than a parent – I have 7: ranging from 20 -5 years old, and of course I cannot ignore my adult kids either. Since we moved closer to them, I come at every birthday, except for the one who lives in Holland, holidays, special school events …my blog time keeps ever shrinking:) Don’t have to feel sorry for me, because this is the life I cherish – a busy one :p

        1. Hehe, ohhh, I don’t feel sorry for you! I can’t even imagine it but I love the idea!! Now you imagine this: I don’t have a single child, I have one sister who lives far, I have one cousin who I never see, and I have one dog… A lot of time for blogging. 😉

        2. Oh, now I feel better to say what I was thinking before – can’t help but think you would be a good teacher (not necessarily in front of a class room), or something to do with helping people …

      1. I just took another look at this one, and I really love the pyramid door. It was perfect. The door right below it made me think of New Orleans, and it was fun to see that’s exactly what you said in the caption too!

        1. Ahh, Crystal, I’m so glad you came to look again and told me about it, too. 🙂 So I had a chance to revisit. It’s good that I did these posts. And that you love your door! ❤ NOLA was a hunch, I haven't been yet. 😉

        2. Have you read Neverwhere by Neil Gaiman? His main character is named Door. I just now thought of her. I know you’re probably still in His Dark Materials series, but I recommend Neverwhere too. 🙂

        3. Hehe, I have read it, probably it came recommended for the same reason – the Door character. 😀 I only read Good Omens from him before, and I loved it. Neverwhere… not so much. Although it’s memorable and all, I hated it in parts because I felt like he added violence just for the violence’ sake. I hate the violence in video games too. I don’t care if it’s the genre that asks for it. I don’t read this genre much at all, but I loved, for example, The Ender Quartet. I guess the violence there was better handled.

        4. I also do not like violence, and there was a lot in this book. Gaiman writes a lot of very sweet stuff, so maybe you’ll come across another story that catches your attention in the future. Still, it’s nearly always the same genre: magical, otherworldy, ghosts and mythical beasts. So if you don’t like that stuff… maybe best to use your limited reading time to dig into stuff you really like!

      1. It only takes a few people that are special to turn the whole thing around, wherever you find them, and if they are not local, it is great that we can find them elsewhere in the world, I think. I am always right here, call on me any time.

  5. How lovely MMM. I found my door, but I could have easily been a few other doors too, especially those ones in Rome where we almost met up last November and have been kicking myself ever since. Great doors, great post. and now I can check out some of my other soul sisters.

  6. Oh Manja, I LOVE my door! It’s my favorite color too! I love the knocker on it, and that wonderful warm light you photographed it in. It really makes the brick/stone look beautiful.
I love the view, and yes, I would adore seeing the Ibis, and Flamingos!!

If I ever get over there we have to go see my door! 🙂

Thank you so much for the lovely mention. I’m honored to be listed with such wonderful women. Several of whom I already follow.
I’ll be checking out the rest on the list. xx

    1. Oh, Deborah, it’s a deal, you’re on! 🙂 The door will wait for you. I’m glad I’ve chosen a good one for you. It’s a personal favourite too. The flamingos are gone but they will be back, unless the short snow period we had this year didn’t scare them away. It lasted just a few hours though.

  8. So thoughtful of you Manja!! Your warmth is truly infectious. What an amazing selection of doors… is there a windows challenge?! 🧐
Thanks for the shoutout, loved my door too by the way! ❣ 💓 💕

    1. You’re always welcome, Jolene! There was a window challenge around but it’s gone now. Why, do you prefer windows? 😉 I love windows just as much as doors. Sending more warmth to melt some snow. 🙂

  9. How honored am I to be in your thoughts this morning Manja! I look forward to the day when I find myself in that corner of the Adriatic where the Piran and this beautiful door await. Actually, there are many doors here in this post that I would like to experience in person.

Sorry I have been a bit scarce on your pages (and social media) as of late. We had a great sail from Thailand to Sri Lanka and were greeted by over 20 whales when we arrived here. I’ve been traveling like a mad woman ever since trying to experience Sri Lanka as fully as possible before we sail onward to the Maldives. I plan to be more active when we arrive there.

    1. Oooo, Lisa, never be sorry for having been greeted by whales. 😮 😉 We will all wait on here. Life is for living. I’m glad to hear of your great sail. Enjoy Sri Lanka and the Maldives for me too! 🙂

  13. Manja, the effort you put into these posts! I love it … and even better when I recognize so many of the fine people featured 💕

As usual, it’s always difficult to pick a favourite from among your doors, but 2 stand out for me – the one through the brass circle at Talamone cemetery and the cafe over the vine covered building beside the river. This looks like the kind of place I would love to stop and watch the world go by for a while 🙂

    1. Oh, Joanne, thank you so much. Yes, this kind of posts takes the most time but also brings the best feeling. Imagine – I was passing this bridge from where I took the second photo you mention on a daily basis when going home from high school. The best part of the school was that it was in the city center. I hope to meet you there one day. 🙂

  14. Sorry for the lengthy delay this week.
You put together another wonderful post with a tip of the hat to some of my favourite ladies on WP. I was telling one of our mutual blog buddies in Toronto this weekend that the best thing about this whole blog experience is all of the wonderful people we get to meet along the way 🙂

    1. Oh, Norm, no worries, everything and everybody still here. 🙂 I’m glad you agree with the company. I’m extra glad you got together with this particular buddy. I love that photo of you two in action. 😀
